Rational Feather: "Young Artist Running Program" Solo Exhibition

27 July - 15 August 2024 Beijing

"No matter what costume I wear, the narrowness of life always annoys me greatly. To play wild games, we must be too old, too young to be ashamed"

"Rational Feather" is KIKI's first solo exhibition in China. We have selected 16 performance video works over a period of nearly three years to present. KIKI is always confused. She is confused about why she is KIKI, about why she can be a member of the human race, about why she is entrusted to be in this world and not another, about human relationships, and about how things can manifest in this way. The moment-to-moment confusion causes her to choose to withdraw herself, to briefly put KIKI out of her mind, and to use the extra compatible vision to observe the world that already contains her. It seems futile to try to make a clear distinction between the emotional and the rational, but KIKI's work is undeniably sensitive. On the one hand, she's desperate to escape from the world, and on the other, she wants to reconcile with it. Each piece is an attack that she launches, and the clothes become the weapons she forges with her own hands. Whether it's the salmon belly in “ THERE IS NO VICTOR IN THE STRIFE”. Or the black shackles of " A BOWL OF SOUP ON THE TABLE OF TIME ". Cotton linen and polyester weave a utopia equal to her size, in which she expects to live and interact with others. Each act hopefully pokes into the giant concrete making the Horizont Blickweite solidify. Between the heavens and the earth, life is fleeting, like a passing white horse, in a sudden moment. But an unwillingness to face the wiles of the world is only the first reason to build a utopia; how to make a utopia only the size of a body surround the world is the theme of the real attack.
