SMART-59
Mankind has struggled and coexisted with viruses since the beginning of history. Almost every plague in human history has brought about profound cultural, economic, political, and social changes that outlasted the virus itself, and some researchers even believe that an ancient virus may be responsible for human consciousness. The project centers around an imagined pandemic outbreak in 2059, which is caused by a new type of virus that causes brain infection and enhances consciousness - SMART-59. Based on their real-life experience, artists work in this imaginary context and explores how the virus and the outbreak will change our thinking and action towards body, class and cultural rights.
